St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital President Joan Cusak-McGuirk made it official today, announcing that state regulators have signed off on the hospital becoming part of the Montefiore Health System. At a news conference at the Newburgh hospital Cusak- McGuirk said that Montefiore has already been a great partner bringing many specialized services to the local campuses and she said that it “is just the tip of the iceberg,” and the possibilities are endless what they can do for their community.
“This is such a proud moment: the final step in the process of joining our systems in order to expand the best of value-based care and clinical excellence to the region,” said Steven M. Safyer MD, President and CEO Montefiore Medicine. “We would not be here today without a lot of visionary thinking, and we owe a deep debt of gratitude to the dedicated leadership of St. Luke’s Cornwall and its board of trustees, for believing that together we can really make a difference.”
Dr. Safyer went on to say that they will keep care local, but will provide care for all. St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital “is a vital access provider with main campuses in both Newburgh and Cornwall, New York and several offsite facilities throughout the region.”
