(Monticello, NY) -- The Resorts World Catskills is now open to the public.
A ribbon-cutting was held this morning with Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul among those speaking. The opening day ceremony also included a video message from Governor Cuomo who spoke of the forty year effort to bring a full service casino to Sullivan County.
The one-point-two-billion-dollar casino is the largest in New York State and is generating hopes of a revival for the Borscht Belt region. The casino offers Las Vegas-style gaming with live action at more than 150 tables, plus more than two-thousand state-of-the-art slot machines.
The five-star resort, just 90 miles north of New York City, is opening a few weeks early hoping to attract customers celebrating the East Asian Lunar New Year.
