Algae Bloom Summit At SUNY New Paltz


(New Paltz, NY) -- New York State is holding its first summit today to and try protect lakes and drinking water from harmful algae blooms.

Experts have come together from around the state and nation to study and solve the issue at 12 lakes throughout New York including Mohegan, Pamela and Putnam lakes.

Governor Cuomo says poisonous algal blooms are growing at a frightening rate. Cuomo has put aside 65 million dollars to attack the problem and for this summit and three other summits that will take place in Syracuse, Ticonderoga and Rochester.

The meeting is today from 6 to 8pm.
