(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- Some students at schools in Dutchess and Ulster counties are set to participate in a national walkout pushing for something to be done about gun violence.
The group that organized the Women's March is rallying students at high schools across the country to walk out of class tomorrow for 17 minutes symbolizing the 17 victims at the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The group reports that students from several Mid-Hudson schools, including Hyde Park, Beacon and New Paltz say they are participating. Some school officials are allowing this but some schools may be threatening disciplinary measures. Most of the walkouts are scheduled for 10 a.m.
