(Albany, NY) -- Democrats in the New York State Senate are reuniting, with Yonkers Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins as their leader.
The deal was brokered under pressure from Governor Andrew Cuomo. For the past seven years, a group of moderate Democrats have broken away, conferencing with Republicans instead. While the Democrats are reuniting, they are still in the minority in the senate unless they can pick up two more seats in upcoming special elections.
