(Albany, NY) -- New Yorkers who suffer health issues caused by extreme heat might be able to get free air conditioners.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is making three million dollars available for those needing help to stay cool through the Home Energy Assistance Program. Last year, some four thousand households throughout the state got some kind of cooling assistance. Local departments of Social Services will accept applications now until the funding runs out.
