Five Tornadoes Hit Mid-Hudson

(Albany, NY) -- The National Weather Service says five tornadoes struck the Mid-Hudson region on Tuesday.

Two of those were in Putnam County, in Kent and Patterson, and packed winds of between 100 and 110 miles-per-hour. A tornado also touched down in Newburgh in Orange County with 85 mile-per-hour winds. In addition, one hit Saugerties and one struck Yulan in Sullivan County.

The Saugerties tornado’s path started "along Route 212 between Woodstock and Saugerties and moved east through the western and southern part of Saugerties before crossing the Hudson River and ending in Tivoli, just south of the Clermont State Historic Site."  That tornado had 90 mph winds.
