(Albany, NY) -- Republican Marc Molinaro has selected a running mate as he tries to become the next governor of New York.
Molinaro has tapped former Rye Deputy Mayor Julie Killian to be his lieutenant governor candidate. He made the announcement yesterday and in a statement called Killian "a champion for people who have no voice." Molinaro is the Dutchess County executive and is expected to be the Republican candidate for governor.
Party leaders are coming together at a statewide convention this week to nominate candidates. Polls show Molinaro has a steep hill to climb if he wants to beat Democratic incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo or progressive liberal Cynthia Nixon this November.
