Planes & Trains Are Ready For Memorial Day Travel

(New York, NY) -- New York City area airports are prepared for the busy holiday weekend.

The Port Authority expects nearly one-point-eight-million passengers to use LaGuardia, JFK, Newark and Stewart International Airports from Friday to Tuesday. Officials say that's a more than three-percent increase from last year. There will be customer care reps on hand at the airports to help move travelers along.

Meanwhile, there will be plenty of extra trains tomorrow afternoon for folks getting out of the city for the holiday weekend. The MTA says there will be 17 extra Metro-North trains. Some evening trains may be canceled or combined due to lower expected ridership. NJ Transit is also offering extra outbound trains and buses tomorrow afternoon, as well as a variety of discounted summer savings packages. On Memorial Day, Metro-North will run on a Sunday schedule, as will New York City subways and buses. NJ Transit will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule.
