Dutchess Could Get Federal Help For Storm Damage

New York, NY) -- A group of U.S. Senators and a Representative from New York are asking for federal funding to help parts of the Hudson Valley including Dutchess and Orange counties.

Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are among those who wrote a letter to FEMA. They're calling for aid after heavy rain, strong winds, and tornadoes hit the region on May 15th. More than 100-thousand people lost power and multiple people died during the severe weather. The letter states "we urge FEMA to stand ready to participate in a Preliminary Damage Assessment with state and local officials, should the state request it."
