(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- A woman is going to be okay after being trapped for several hours in the rubble of a building that collapsed in Poughkeepsie.
Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison said Tanya Hargrove is lucky to be alive after Monday's scary incident. The 43 year old woman was working in “Hottie’s Boutique” at 15 Academy Street when a ton of bricks fell on top of her. The bricks came from the partial collapse of the building at 19 Academy Street. Hargrove is recovering in a local hospital.
The seven-story building on Academy Street has been partially demolished in an effort to stabilize it. Mayor Rolison said the building was not in good shape and its owners had planned on renovating it, but hadn't yet started the project.
