(Daytona Beach, FL) -- A state trooper and firefighter from Columbia County in New York are being hailed as heroes for jumping into action while on vacation in Florida to save a drowning toddler.
Trooper Matthew Colwell and firefighter Jessica Campeta heard a woman screaming at their hotel in Daytona Beach Florida. They responded and found a three-year-old girl floating in the pool and jumped right in. The Columbia County first responders were able to help the girl until paramedics arrived. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
