(New York, NY) -- The NYPD is honoring hero cop Steven McDonald.
A plaque dedication ceremony is being held where McDonald was shot by a teenager in Central Park on this day back in 1986. The officer was confined to a wheelchair and is known for forgiving the teenager who shot him and preaching forgiveness. McDonald many times brought his message of non-violence to schools in Dutchess and Ulster counties. McDonald died last year.
