Mario Cuomo Bridge Nears Completion

(Tarrytown, NY) -- The second span of the new Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be completed next month.

Governor Cuomo announced yesterday, while touring the bridge, that work on the Westchester-bound span is set to be finished in the middle of September. The first span, which opened last August and has been used for both east and westbound traffic, will shift to Rockland-bound traffic only.

Cuomo said that, after talking for decades about replacing the old Tappan Zee Bridge, the state is now on the cusp of making history.
