Delayed Opening For Mario Cuomo Bridge

(Nyack NY) -- The eastbound span of the new Mario Cuomo Bridge over the Hudson River is now scheduled to open tomorrow evening.

It was originally set to begin running on Saturday morning, but at the last minute the opening was delayed. Engineers found reason to believe that parts of the old Tappan Zee Bridge could possibly collapse onto the new span. Governor Cuomo says he received the warning late Friday, hours after he held a huge grand opening celebration on the new bridge. It is named after his father, former Governor Mario Cuomo.

Dutchess County Executive and Republican Candidate for Governor Marc Molinaro is calling for an investigation into the construction schedule of the bridge.  Molinaro says he believes the schedule was rushed to open the bridge before Thursday’s Democratic Primary.
