Kmart Store In Poughkeepsie Is Closing

(Poughkeepsie, NY)  --  71 employees at the Kmart Store in Poughkeepsie will be losing their jobs.

Kmart Corporation this week filed an early warning Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with New York State, stating that the store at 635 Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie is expected to be shut down on December 23rd.

The store has been in the Dutchess Center since 1976 and in 2013 saw a major renovation to  the men’s and women’s clothing center by adding 1,000 square feet of space.

In the notification the company says they are closing the store due to economic reasons.
