(Washington, DC) -- The new Wireless Emergency Alert System will be tested at 2:18 tomorrow afternoon, Eastern time.
People will get a loud tone and vibration on their smartphones across the U.S. The system is being set up to send out so-called Presidential Alerts in national emergencies.
A lawsuit has been filed in a federal court in New York City, claiming the new alert system represents an unconstitutional seizure of electronic devices. Litigants argue that the system would allow President Trump and future presidents to disseminate propaganda.
