Poughkeepsie Murder Suspect Is Now In Custody


(Poughkeepsie, NY)  --  The search for a Poughkeepsie Murder suspect is over. 

City of Poughkeepsie Police say the man they believe shot and killed 35 year old Noel McClinton back on January 27th in front of the Fireman’s Exempt Social Club on Mansion Street is now in custody.  38 year old Robert Whitaker, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered to police today.

Whitaker had been on the run since the shooting, and police had made several attempts to locate him in North Carolina where he was believed to be hiding out.  He is now facing Second Degree murder charges.  He was arraigned today and then sent to the Dutchess County Jail.
