Pumpkin Patrol Will Be Active Tonight

(Albany, NY)  --  For the 42nd year on Halloween, State Police will be participating in the  annual "Pumpkin Patrol."

The patrol involves not only troopers, but hundreds of volunteers and amateur “HAM” radio operators. Police will be keeping an extra eye out for illegal activities on overpasses and bridges along the New York State Thruway, Interstate-84 and many other locations.

The patrol began after a driver was killed when someone threw an object off of a Thruway overpass.  The effort is meant to keep someone’s Halloween prank from becoming a deadly incident.
