(Albany, NY) -- New York Democrats have scored a clean sweep of state government.
Starting in January, they'll control the Senate, the Assembly and the Governor's office. It's also a historic win because it means that Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins is on track to become the first black woman in the nation to lead a majority legislative conference. She's 68, was born in New York City and represents Yonkers.
Democrats also held on to the state comptroller's and attorney general's office.
