(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- Today is Giving Tuesday, and people are encouraged to give time, money, and acts of service and kindness today.
The goal of Giving Tuesday is to move the focus to giving back after the consumer-oriented emphasis of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Grace Smith House in Poughkeepsie, the Dutchess County SPCA in Hyde Park, Sparrow’s Nest in Wappingers Falls and the Dutchess Chamber Foundation are among the local agencies that are participating.
People are particularly invited to focus on their own communities. Giving Tuesday.org has an online directory people can use to find local organizations, charities, events and more.
