The Body Count Is Now Up To Four In Poughkeepsie Fire


(Poughkeepsie, NY)  --  The body count is now up to four. 

Investigators are working to determine if any criminal activity is involved, after four bodies were found in a burned out boarded up building on Academy Street in Poughkeepsie.  City of Poughkeepsie Firefighters were called out early this morning to a blaze at 61 Academy Street.  Responding firefighters reported heavy fire when they arrived around 1:45am.  They were on the scene for several hours fighting the fire.

After daylight, two bodies were found during a search of the scene.  Then this afternoon, two more bodies were found. The search of the fire damaged building continues. Police, firefighters and the District Attorney’s office are investigating.
