(East Fishkill, NY) -- A strange incident in Hopewell Junction yesterday afternoon leads to the death of a 15 year old boy.
State Police say Wilson Santiago from Wappinger is dead after they found him in the middle of Clove Branch Road near Henry Drive. Efforts to revive him failed and he died at the scene. Moments earlier police had seen Santiago clinging to the passenger side of an SUV, and the patrol car turned around to investigate, while the SUV fled the scene.
“New York State Police and the town of East Fishkill Police quickly joined forces to unravel the sequence of events that led to Wilson’s death. As a police officer, you never get used to seeing such tragedy. It’s just heartbreaking,” said State Police Captain John Ryan.
Police arrested a sixteen year old and a seventeen year old and charged them with Manslaughter. State Police were also assisted by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office. Also on scene were the Town of East Fishkill Fire and EMS.
