Gymboree Will Close 800 Stores

(New York, NY) -- Children's clothing chain Gymboree is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

In its filing late yesterday the company said it will be closing 800 Gymboree and Crazy 8 stores in the U.S. and Canada. The company is also looking to sell its Janie and Jack high-end kids fashion line, the online platform for Gymboree, and its intellectual property. Locally, Gymboree operates a store in Orange County.

Gymboree has more than 900 stores in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. This is the San Francisco-based company's second bankruptcy in two years. It closed about 350 stores when it filed for bankruptcy protection in the summer of 2017.
