Most New Yorkers Support Recreational Marijuana

(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- The latest NBC 4 New York-Marist Poll finds that 57 percent of New Yorkers support the effort to legalize marijuana for recreational use in the state; the Poughkeepsie based pollster finds that 38 percent oppose it.The poll finds that 65% of Democrats and 58% of independents support recreational pot, while 60% of Republicans do not.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has been pushing for approval this year, though some members of the state legislature say more time is needed to study the issue.
