Tornado Watch Posted For Dutchess & Ulster Counties & The Mid-Hudson Region

Severe Thunderstorms moving through the area early this morning cut off power to about 1,600 Central Hudson customers, most of those were in Dutchess County. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center had issued a tornado watch for the Mid-Hudson region including Dutchess and Ulster Counties, but that was discontinued at around 5:30am.

(Poughkeepsie, NY)--The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center is issuing a Tornado Watch for the Mid-Hudson region including Dutchess and Ulster Counties until 7:00 a.m. 

Severe thunderstorms are expected through the morning that could bring damaging winds and heavy rains. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to turn into tornadoes. Officials are urging people to make sure to be prepare for possible power outages and storm damage and to heed alerts if a warning is issued.
