(Poughkeepsie, NY)--Lots of Hudson Valley residents are heading for family visits, memorial services, barbecues, beaches and vacation homes on this holiday getaway day. Triple A predicts nearly 43 million Americans will travel this weekend, up about three and a half percent from last year.
The Port Authority is expecting two-million travelers to use New York’s four major airports over this Memorial Day weekend. That's a nearly three-percent increase over last year and would be a record for the holiday weekend. Today is predicted to be the busiest day of the weekend at Stewart Airport near Newburgh and the other three airports JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark.
