(Newburgh, NY) -- More than 150 snakes have been removed from a Newburgh home after their owner was bitten by one of them.
Doctors at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx alerted police that they were treating a patient who had been bitten by a venomous Asian pit viper that he owned. When cops arrived at the house on Maple Street they found about 157 snakes in the basement. The resident did not have the proper permit to keep the exotic snakes; they were handed over to the Bronx zoo where they are in quarantine.
