(Lake Charles, LA) -- A Category 1 Hurricane is expected to hit the Gulf Coast on Saturday.
The National Hurricane Center's latest forecast shows the formation of Hurricane Barry out of a tropical depression moving west-southwest around eight-miles-per-hour. Barry is predicted to hit Saturday evening near Lake Charles, Louisiana. The cone of the storm shows Barry also hitting Texas.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants people to be prepared with the potential tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico. Abbott says the storm could evolve into a hurricane but noted it is impossible to tell where the storm will go or its strength. The state has activated multiple rescue squads to be prepared if high water hits.
