Ohio Woman Gets Just 30 Days In Jail For Sexually Abusing Kids At Daycare

A 51-year-old Ohio woman who sexually abused children at an unlicensed daycare she ran out of her home received a slap on the wrist for her crimes. Kimberly Hignite was indicted on five counts of gross sexual imposition and 17 counts of child endangering in 2018.

Police say she had 23 kids in her care and sexually and physically abused them. In one instance, she even had two of the kids touch each other's private areas.

Hignite agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to 14 misdemeanor counts of endangering children. Hignite was facing a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail for each of the 14 counts, but the judge decided to give her just 30 days in prison and hit her with a $4,200 fine.

The parents of the abused children were not happy with the lenient sentence Hignite received.

"If we cannot get the justice we hope for without re-traumatizing our children, I can only beg that you take every possible step to ensure that Kimberly Hignite can never hurt another child again," one mother said.
