(Albany, NY) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo has officially signed off on two new pieces of gun legislation.
The first law will ban "bump stocks" which allow a semi-automatic weapon to fire like an automatic weapon. The second measure establishes a 30-day waiting period for buying a firearm, which allows the person looking to purchase a weapon to undergo a background check. Both laws were passed by the Legislature this year and are the most significant changes to the state's gun laws since the SAFE Act in 2013.
