(New York, NY)-- It has been a week since anyone has seen a venomous snake that went missing at the Bronx Zoo.
The three-foot long, tree-climbing mangrove snake somehow broke free from the zoo's Jungle World exhibit. A sign warns visitors that the snake is on the loose, but the Jungle World exhibit remains open. Staffers have been searching for the serpent, but admit it could be anywhere in the zoo. Mangrove snakes hunt birds, lizards, bats and frogs for food.
