Veterans Day In The Hudson Valley

(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- Dutchess County will hold the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the War Memorial on the corner of Main Street and Raymond Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie today at 11 a.m.

Local veterans from WW II through the current conflicts plan to gather for an invocation, presentation of colors, a benediction and a wreath presentation by County Executive Marc Molinaro. Many communities in Dutchess and Ulster counties are holding Veterans Day ceremonies today.

Meanwhile, lots of businesses are offering discounts and freebies to veterans and active duty service members today on this Veterans Day. The deals include: a free hot wax car wash at Foam & Wash locations in the Mid-Hudson, free haircuts for vets at Great Clips and Sports Clips, a free meal at participating Applebees, free auto checkups at participating Goodyear Auto Service centers, .

Among the discounts: 40 dollars off a year of Amazon Prime, and reduced prices at Bed Bath & Beyond,Kohl's, Target, Walgreens, and dozens more.
