The American flag that proudly flies over Stanley Still Park in Poughkeepsie was noticeably missing when Chris Edwards and his senior softball league began their game on Wednesday. What's worse, they found it in the toilet of a nearby porta-potty.
Chris is a former NYC firefighter and 9/11 first responder. The other players in the league include many other first responders and veterans.
This is just absolutely the most disrespectful act agains the flag I've seen in my lifetime. I'm really choked up and upset, to see this, I mean I'm just so disgusted. People need to be held accountable for what they've done.
Edwards and his friend Johnny Bellezza, a Navy veteran, cleaned and dried the flag and put it back up on the flagpole.
Poughkeepsie police don't have any suspects, but will increase patrols in the area.
