New Police Chief In Newburgh

The City of Newburgh has been without a chief of police since late April, but that will all change on August 1. Arnold 'Butch' Amthor, who most recently served as chief of police for Montgomery and Maybrook, had previously worked for the Newburgh police department until 2007.

Also joining the department is Roberty McLymore, a lieutenant with the Wallkill police department, who will act as an advisor to Amthor and a liaison between the city government and the community.

Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey says:

Together the two will launch initiatives and programs that will turn Newburgh’s police force into a more efficient and transparent law enforcement operation.
