Bicycle-motor vehicle accident injures cyclist

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department investigated a motor vehicle vs. bicycle collision that occurred on Saturday, November 21 at about 6:20 p.m.
The incident occurred on Manchester Road at the intersection of Burnett Boulevard.
A black Nissan Titan, operated by a 51-year-old LaGrangeville man collided with a bicycle, ridden by a 58-year-old Poughkeepsie man in the area of the crosswalk on the southeast portion of the intersection, police said.
The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital.
A portion of State Route 55 was closed while the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit investigated the scene. The roadway reopened around 11:19 p.m.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted by members of the Arlington Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services. The investigation is ongoing and police is asking any witnesses to the accident to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
