Early voting in Ulster County, New York, has seen a significant turnout, with over 12,000 residents casting their ballots in the first three days. This figure is nearly half of those who voted early in 2020, according to Republican Elections Commissioner John Quigley.
"If we continue to have voters casting ballots at this pace, we're looking at a substantial turnout," Quigley said. The current pace suggests that a minimum of 36,000 residents will have voted by the end of the early voting period on Sunday. This would surpass the 29,000 ballots cast during the six-day early voting period in 2020.
Ulster County currently has more than 130,000 registered voters. The early voting period continues across New York State, providing residents with the opportunity to cast their votes ahead of Election Day. The Daily Freeman reports that the turnout so far indicates a high level of engagement in the electoral process among Ulster County residents.
