The village of Saugerties, New York, is actively seeking solutions to an ongoing shortage of parking spots in its business district. Currently, there are only 130 metered spots available for on-street parking, causing inconvenience for drivers and businesses alike.

One of the potential solutions being considered by village officials is to stagger parking prices, making it less expensive to park in lots. This approach could encourage more drivers to utilize parking lots, freeing up on-street parking spaces. Another idea under consideration is the introduction of a remote fee payment system. This would allow drivers to pay their parking fees remotely, reducing the risk of receiving parking tickets.

These potential solutions were discussed during a meeting on Monday, November 18, as part of ongoing efforts to address the parking issue. However, no final decisions have been made at this time. The village officials are committed to finding effective and practical solutions to improve the parking situation and ease the inconvenience for drivers and local businesses.

According to the Daily Freeman, further discussions and planning are expected to continue as the village works towards resolving the parking shortage.
