Flags in Dutchess County are flying at half-staff this week in honor of Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Gasparre, who passed away last Friday at the age of 36 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Gasparre, a Marine veteran, was first diagnosed with the disease in 2017. He leaves behind his wife and their infant daughter.
Gasparre had been with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office since 2017. Prior to his service in law enforcement, he earned the rank of Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and volunteered as a firefighter for the Beekman Fire District. His dedication to public service was recognized by the community, with Sheriff Kirk Imperati stating, "With a heavy heart, Sheriff Kirk Imperati announces the passing of Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Gasparre. On the evening of Friday, November 15, 2024, Deputy Gasparre succumbed to his courageous battle with cancer," according to a post on the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
Visitation for Deputy Gasparre is scheduled for tomorrow at McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction, with his funeral set to take place on Saturday morning at Full Gospel Center in Lagrangeville. The community is asked to keep Gasparre's family, friends, and colleagues in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
