The unemployment rates in Greene and Columbia counties have seen a decrease, according to new data from the state Department of Labor. In Greene County, the jobless rate last month was 0.7%, a slight decrease from 0.8% a year ago. Similarly, Columbia County also experienced a drop in unemployment rates, falling from 0.9% to 0.8%.

The lower unemployment rates in these counties could be attributed to the aging population and the return of seasonal workers to permanent jobs. However, the specific factors contributing to these changes have not been detailed.

The state Department of Labor regularly releases data on employment, unemployment, and labor force for various regions, including states, counties, metropolitan areas, and cities. The recent data indicates a positive trend in employment rates in both Greene and Columbia counties.
