A 19-year-old Dutchess County resident, Jahking Murphy, has been arrested on charges of selling fentanyl. The Dutchess County Drug Task Force identified Murphy as a dealer of the deadly drug and subsequently made multiple undercover purchases from him. On November 25, 2024, a search warrant was executed at Murphy's residence on Main Street, leading to his arrest without incident.
Murphy was charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony. Following his arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Court, he was released and placed on electronic monitoring, in accordance with New York State law.
According to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, ongoing investigations are being conducted into narcotics and dangerous drug dealers operating in the area. The Task Force is aggressively targeting those who choose to sell fentanyl in Dutchess County.
Detective Sergeant Adam Harris of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force stated to Mid Hudson News that the Task Force is working to eradicate deadly fentanyl from the community and encourages people to report any suspected illegal drug trafficking in their neighborhoods.
