New York State Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in the Dutchess County community of Wappinger. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 8:35 p.m. at the intersection of Old Hopewell Road and Route 9. The victim, a 43-year-old woman, was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. This marks the fourth fatal hit-and-run in the Mid-Hudson Valley this year.
According to witnesses, the vehicle involved in the incident was a black pickup truck that fled west on Old Hopewell Road toward Route 9D after the collision. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
