The Dutchess County Health Department is set to host two community health fairs in the coming days. The first fair will take place on Friday at Pawling Elementary School on Haight Street in Pawling, and the second will be held on Saturday at Dover Elementary School on School Street. Both fairs will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
These health fairs aim to promote health and wellness in the community by offering a variety of services. Attendees will have access to free blood pressure screenings, flu shots, and assistance with signing up for health care coverage.
The fairs are part of the Dutchess County Y.O.U.R. (Young, Old, Urban, Rural) Health Fair initiative, which has been held annually for the past three years. The initiative is hosted by the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health and features more than 75 exhibitors, food trucks, fun activities, giveaways, and prizes. The event also provides resources and services on topics such as mental health and recovery, environmental health, maternal, child and elderly care, sexual health, physical activity, nutrition, and dental health.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said, "Good health and wellness is key to enhancing our quality of life. The Dutchess County Y.O.U.R. Health Fair is a great way to learn about the wide range of health resources that are available throughout our community, while taking part in fun and educational activities designed for all ages and abilities."
