A virtual meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. on December 18 to discuss the Kingston Rail Crossing Study. The Ulster County Transportation Council initiated the study in 2023 to evaluate and enhance safety along Kingston's West Shore Rail Corridor. This initiative comes in response to several pedestrian and vehicle accidents near the train tracks in recent years.

The study, conducted in consultation with WSP and SGB, focuses on assessing existing street crossings, crashes, and trespass incidents along the rail corridor. It also considers the impact of surrounding land uses. The goal is to improve safety measures and reduce accidents in the area.

Community members interested in the study can participate in the virtual meeting and submit questions to Brian Slack, Principal Transportation Planner, at bsla@co.ulster.ny.us. The meeting provides an opportunity for residents to learn about the study's findings and offer input on proposed safety enhancements.
