Dutchess County law enforcement is celebrating the achievements of its Drug Task Force, which has significantly reduced drug-related issues in the area. Since April 2023, the operation, dubbed "Fast and Furious," has led to 300 drug transactions, 76 arrests, and the execution of 40 search warrants. As a result, drug overdoses in the county have decreased by 50 percent.

The success of the operation is attributed to a collaborative effort between the Drug Task Force and the District Attorney's Office. District Attorney Anthony Parisi emphasized the importance of teamwork in tackling the drug crisis, stating, "We are committed to fighting the drug overdose crisis that touches every family and neighborhood" according to the Dutchess County website.

The task force's strategy involved intelligence-led policing, focusing on rapid, short-term investigations to quickly apprehend drug dealers. This approach has been effective in identifying and targeting narcotics dealers throughout Dutchess County. The task force's efforts have also led to the seizure of 15 illegal handguns and 1,500 pieces of evidence.

In a recent raid in Poughkeepsie, two suspects, Stephen Bai and Angela Martinez, were arrested for their involvement in a narcotics operation. Bai was charged with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, while Martinez faced charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance as reported by WPDH.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino praised the task force's work, highlighting their role in creating a safer community. The task force continues to operate, with another takedown operation already underway.
