As winter approaches, towns in the Hudson Valley are actively seeking individuals to join their snowstorm response teams. Saugerties Village is hiring part-time plow drivers who must be at least 18 years old. The pay rate varies by position and includes overtime and meal allowances. Meanwhile, the town of Hyde Park's Highway Department is looking for part-time "wing men and women" at an hourly rate of $17.
The City of Poughkeepsie is also preparing for snow emergencies by getting equipment ready and reminding residents of necessary precautions during snow events.
Governor Kathy Hochul has urged New Yorkers to be cautious as a significant winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds, and possible whiteout conditions. State agencies are monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond with necessary equipment and personnel.
