The Hudson Valley is experiencing a white Christmas as snow blankets the region, just in time for the holiday season. The snowfall began early on Christmas Eve (December 24), impacting travel as residents prepare for Christmas Day and the start of Hanukkah.

According to Hudson Valley Weather, a fast-moving band of snow swept through the area, causing hazardous travel conditions. The snow, which lasted for two to three hours, accumulated on roads, making them slick and icy. Most areas received between 0.5 to 1.5 inches of snow, with some regions seeing up to two inches. The snow tapered off by mid-morning, with sunshine expected in the afternoon to improve road conditions.

The National Weather Service predicts a 30% chance of rain and snow on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, potentially maintaining the white Christmas atmosphere. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads, as lingering snow can create slushy and slippery conditions.
