Dutchess County is set to implement changes to its public transit routes starting Thursday (January 4). The modifications aim to improve service efficiency and reflect community input. Key changes include increased bus service along the Route 9 corridor and the introduction of new express services from Poughkeepsie to Walmart in Fishkill and Amazon in East Fishkill. Additionally, there will be increased local service for Dutchess Community College students and new Sunday service for the Beacon Free Loop.

Some routes have been eliminated due to low ridership, such as the RailLink service to Poughkeepsie and New Hamburg train stations. Riders can now use the newly launched SPOT mobile app and web-based tracking system to plan their trips and track buses in real time. The app, which replaced the previous DoubleMap app, allows users to save favorite routes and receive push notifications with real-time updates.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino emphasized that the changes were made after listening to community concerns and are designed to keep the system sustainable. "We are grateful to all those who have shared input during this process," Serino said.

The new schedules will also reduce split shifts and eliminate unpaid layover time for bus drivers. The updated timetables are available on the Dutchess County Public Transit website, and riders can call (845) 473-8424 for questions regarding the route modifications.
