A driver from Marlboro faces charges of driving while intoxicated after crashing into a New York State Police cruiser on New Year's Day. The incident occurred around 2:52 a.m. on Route 44/55 in the Town of Lloyd during a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jesse Peck, was operating a 2025 Volkswagen when he rear-ended the police vehicle, which then collided with a 2016 Volkswagen that had been stopped for traffic violations. According to NEWS10 ABC, Peck was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.16%, twice the legal limit.
Peck was charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with 0.08 of 1% alcohol or more in his blood. He was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket for January 21 at the Lloyd Town Court.
The occupants of the 2016 Volkswagen, a 27-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, were treated for minor injuries at Dutchess Vassar Brothers Hospital. Two state troopers also sustained minor injuries and were treated at Mid-Hudson Hospital.
New York State Police confirmed that all emergency lights were activated on the patrol car at the time of the crash.
