Poughkeepsie police have arrested 39-year-old David Smith-Daye in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday night (January 3). Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Flannery Avenue and the Westbound Arterial. Upon arrival, they found shell casings and damage to an occupied home, but no victims.
Smith-Daye was later located on the 500 block of Main Street and taken into custody. He faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, strangulation in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree. Police believe the incident is related to an earlier event.
Smith-Daye is being held pending arraignment, and additional charges may be filed. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact their confidential tipline at (845) 451-7577.
